null Mikó evening with the Minority Ombudsman

The law students of Mikó Imre College for Advanced Studies in Cluj hosted a professional evening with Elisabeth Sándor-Szalay, Minority Ombudsman and the head of her secretariat, Tamás Török.

The topics of the online forum were the situation and challenges of minority protection in Europe, Hungary and Romania. The discussion was hosted by Beáta Böndi, President of the Professional Council. During the evening, the participants also examined in detail the elements of the legal regulation and the guarantee system, such as the enforceability of international documents, the state of the Minority SafePack, the situation of language rights, the current state of the nationality institutional system in the two countries and the options for further action. Theoretical and practical issues of combating racism were highlighted, as well as issues related to improving the living conditions and prospects of disadvantaged Roma individuals and communities, and opportunities for volunteering.

The aim of the Mikó Imre College for Advanced Studies is to assist the professional development law and economics students of Hungarian nationality in Transylvania. Through regular training, lectures and discussions with professionals, its members can gain knowledge beyond the academic curriculum. In addition to professional development, the College forges lifelong friendships and creates a community in which everyone has the opportunity to grow and which
