The ceremonial handover was attended by Dr. Ákos Kozma, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary; Péter Zambó, State Secretary for Forests and Land Affairs of the Ministry of Agriculture; and Brigadier General Irén Dickmann, Deputy Director General for Finance and IT of the Hungarian Prison Service.

The renovation of the Ipolypart Fészek Children’s Home began based on a proposal from the Nógrád County Police Headquarters and findings from an on-site investigation conducted in September 2023, detailed in a recently publis ombudsman report.

The ombudsman’s renovation program for children’s homes was launched in 2021 at the initiative of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary.
