FRA report on the criminal labour exploitation of workers moving within or migrating to the EU

On 2 June 2015, the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) will publish the findings of its research into the criminal labour exploitation of workers moving within or migrating to the EU. The report is the first to comprehensively explore all criminal forms of labour exploitation in the EU of workers moving within or into the EU, and shows that despite legislation banning the practice, labour exploitation is widespread in the EU.

Ombudsman for national minorities was awarded the title of "Profesor Honoris Causa" in Kolozsvár (Cluj-Napoca)

The Babes-Bolyai University of Kolozsvár (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) awarded Ms Elisabeth Sándor-Szalay, the Deputy-Commissioner for Fundamental Rights, Ombudsman for the Rights of National Minorities living in Hungary and professor of the Faculty of International and European Studies of the National University of Public Service (Budapest) with the prestigious title of ‘Profesor Honoris Causa'. The awarding ceremony was held in the Aula Magna Hall of the Babes-Bolyai University on 27 February 2015. The title of "Profesor Honoris Causa" was recommended by the Babes-Bolyai University's Faculty of Law.

NHRI 'A' status to the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights

On 29 December 2014, based on the results of the activities of the Office of Commissioner for Fundamental Rights, the Bureau of the International Coordination Committee of National Human Rights Institutions (ICC NHRI) granted "A" status accreditation to the Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights.
