The Minority Ombudsman gave a presentation at the FUEN - Federal Union of European Nationalities conference on "Minority Protection and the Rights of Ethnic Groups in Central and Central-Eastern Europe".
On 25 March, FUEN organised an international conference on "Minority Protection and Ethnic Group Rights in Central and Central Eastern Europe", which focused on the protection of minorities in Hungary, Croatia and Slovakia and the specificities of the application of the law in each country.
The Minority Ombudsman spoke to the participants about the practical experience of the application of national minority law in Hungary, and her presentation was entitled "The implementation of legal regulations regarding the protection of minorities in Hungary from a practical perspective". The lecture, which was held in German and English, covered, among other things, the situation of Hungarian nationality communities, the legal environment, the Minority Ombudsman's duties, the types of cases that dominated in 2020, trends and the impact of the pandemic.
