On 15 November, 2024, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary participated in a ceremonial tree planting held in the courtyard of the Veszprém County Police Headquarters. The event was also attended by Brigadier General Balázs Dékány, County Police Superintendent and Ákos Gábor Ugron, the CEO of VERGA Veszprém Forestry Ltd.

Reflecting on the past five years, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary highlighted that his responsibilities have significantly expanded during his term of office. Four major areas have been added to his mandate: handling complaints and grievances against police actions, adjudicating cases related to equal treatment, overseeing activities as an independent mechanism for disability rights, and, alongside the existing protection system involving proceedings related to public interest disclosures, operating the new whistleblowing mechanism.

On October 9, 2024, Dr. Ákos Kozma, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary, visited the Zalaegerszeg Special Child Protection Centre, Primary, and Vocational School, where he was welcomed by the Head of the Institution, Ms. Mária Hegedűs.

The renovation of the Ipolypart Fészek Children’s Home continued with the modernization of its bathrooms. As in previous years, stakeholders such as the Hungarian Prison Service Headquarters and the state forestry companies, including Ipoly Erdő Ltd., played a key role in the institution's refurbishment.

On 29 October 2024, Dr. Ákos Kozma, Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary, and Dr. Elisabeth Sándor-Szalay, Deputy Commissioner for the Rights of National Minorities in Hungary, attended the meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Nationalities in Hungary. The session focused on Report no. B/7848 on the activities of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary and his deputies in 2023.

On October 29, 2024, Dr. Ákos Kozma, the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary, hosted Pál Szekeres, a member of the European Parliament's Petitions Committee and the petition coordinator of the Patriots for Europe group.
